Frequently asked questions about HCF's provider network

HCF’s network of participating providers includes thousands of doctors, specialists, dentists, physios and more across Australia that have agreements with HCF. When you use a participating provider for services included in your cover, you may receive higher benefits, lower out‑of‑pocket costs and known-gap or no‑gap services (if they’re part of our No-Gap network), depending on your cover.

No. You can choose any registered healthcare provider, even if they’re not part of HCF’s network. However, using an HCF participating provider may help reduce or eliminate out‑of‑pocket costs, as these providers have agreements with HCF to offer higher benefits or no‑gap services. If you see a provider outside the network, you may still receive a benefit, but your out‑of‑pocket costs could be higher depending on your cover.

The out-of-pocket cost of a service or treatment can depend on your level of cover, the provider or doctor you choose and the treatment you need. To get a better understanding of these costs, you can:

  • ask your healthcare provider for a quote before treatment
  • use HCF tools like our Find a Provider tool to get a better understanding on potential out-of-pocket costs or no-gap arrangements
  • contact our experienced team for more support.

To check if you’re covered for a service, login to your HCF Member Services account or the My Membership app to review your level of cover, included and excluded services, and to check your extras limits. If you’re still unsure if you’re covered for a service or what benefits may apply, contact our team for more information.

Yes. Once you’ve searched for a provider and location using our Find a Provider tool, you can filter by consultation type and select a practitioner that offers face-to-face or telehealth appointments.
